What You'll Do
- Provide expert nursing care to cardiac and stepdown patients, including CVA, TIA, and COVID-19 cases
- Manage complex patient needs such as IV therapy, arterial lines, Foley catheters, and NG/PEG tube feedings
- Administer drip medications including Levophed, Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin, with competency in EKG interpretation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including hospitalists, RTs, PTs, and STs, to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Document patient care accurately using Meditech Expanse EMR system
- Conduct patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and respond to evolving patient conditions during 12-hour night shifts
- Float to other units as needed, including stepdown and med-surg, with flexibility and professionalism
What You Need
Required:
- Active RN license in Louisiana or eligible for licensure
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience in acute care, preferably PCU, stepdown, or telemetry units
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Experience with arterial lines, CVL management, Foley care, tube feedings, and drip titration, including Levophed
- Ability to pass an EKG competency exam before start date
- Strong clinical skills in cardiac patient management and telemetry
Preferred:
- Experience with Meditech EMR or similar electronic charting systems
- Certified in specialized cardiac or critical care procedures
