What You’ll Do
- Provide first assist support in cardiothoracic and cardiac surgeries, including CABG, valve repairs/replacements, aortic procedures, and emergent dissections
- Assist with procedures such as sternotomies, endoscopic vein harvesting, chest tubes, and temporary pacing wires
- Support mechanical circulatory support procedures (Impella, ECMO, IABP)
- Collaborate closely with a team of cardiac surgeons, intensivists, and OR staff
- Ensure patient safety and procedural success in a high-volume, academic hospital setting
- Comply with all facility protocols and documentation requirements using Epic EMR software
What You Need
- Current Missouri license
- BLS certification (required)
- RNFA certification preferred for Nurse Practitioners
- Minimum 2 years of independent adult cardiac surgical OR first assist experience
- Strong skills in cardiac surgery procedures and patient management

The facility performs approximately 517 pump cases annually, handling complex procedures such as coronary artery bypass, valve surgeries, ascending aortic repairs, and emergent dissections.
