Description
Our client in VA is seeking a Cardiology Critical Care Nurse Practitioner for a 36-day assignment beginning Sep 1, 2026. This role involves working 7am-4pm shifts on a cardiothoracic surgery step-down unit, primarily managing post-operative and occasional pre-operative patients. Responsibilities include daily patient rounds, reviewing medications, labs, and imaging, as well as documenting care and performing procedures like chest tube and pacing wire removal under direct supervision.
Responsibilities and Duties - Work on the cardiothoracic surgery step-down unit.
- Primarily manage post-operative patients, with occasional pre-operative patient management.
- Provide weekend coverage for all non-ICU cardiothoracic surgery patients, supported by a second APP and Cardiothoracic Physicians.
- Round on patients, review medications, labs, imaging, and surgeon notes.
- Enter orders and document plans of care or medication adjustments with brief progress notes.
- Perform chest tube and pacing wire removal. Initially, these procedures will be under the direct supervision of an attending physician.
