Pathologists’ Assistant (PA-ASCP) – New Laboratory Site

Role Overview:
A premier private pathology group is seeking a highly skilled, ASCP-certified Pathologists’ Assistant to lead surgical pathology operations at a brand-new facility in the Reno, NV region.
This is a unique solo PA opportunity for a professional who enjoys independence and the excitement of helping launch a new site. The role focuses exclusively on surgical pathology; there are no autopsy responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Surgical Grossing: Lead the gross examination for a diverse range of cases, from routine biopsies to complex large specimens (50–80 cases per day).
Independent Oversight: Serve as the sole PA for the facility, working alongside a supportive team of histology technicians and lab assistants.
Regional Collaboration: Occasional travel to a nearby sister facility (short commute) to ensure consistent service coverage.
Operational Growth: Exercise patience and leadership as the new location builds its daily case volume.
Required Qualifications:
ASCP Certification: Current PA(ASCP) certification is mandatory.
Nevada Licensure: Must hold a valid Nevada State Laboratory License or be fully eligible to obtain one prior to the start date.
Professionalism: Ability to work autonomously and maintain high standards in a solo environment.
Compensation & Schedule
Salary: Competitive, starting above $100,000/year (final offer based on depth of experience).
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week.
Shift: Flexible 8-hour windows between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM (to be finalized).
Relocation: Assistance may be available for highly qualified out-of-state candidates.
