Adult Psychiatry | Earn Up To $400K | Visa Sponsorsip

One of Illinois' Most Flexible & Well-Resourced Academic Medicine Psychiatry Programs

Practice Highlights

•   Shape your ideal practice. Build the academic psychiatry career you actually want — a flexible blend of outpatient care, consults, teaching, and the freedom to incorporate ECT, TMS, telepsychiatry, clinical trials, or research based on your interests.

•   Never practice alone. 23 faculty psychiatrists, experienced APPs, LCSWs, and a thriving residency program that actively buffers attending workload — one of Central Illinois' largest and most established Psychiatry departments.

•   Keep your evenings. A light 1:6 resident-supported call schedule that has historically resulted in little to no after-hours call-ins — and only 2 holidays per year.

•   Lead, teach, or discover. True academic medicine: Grand Rounds, resident oversight, committee involvement, and clinician, educator, or research-focused tracks. Plus one of Illinois' leading ECT programs, TMS, a developmental disability clinic, geriatrics, and correctional telehealth — all under one department.

Compensation & Benefits

•   Earn up to $400,000 through a competitive salary model that rewards your clinical expertise

•   Erase your student debt. PSLF and NHC loan forgiveness qualified - a significant long-term financial advantage for psychiatrists carrying student loans.

•   Invest in your future with exceptional state benefits: a pension through SURS, 403(b) and 457(b) retirement options, and a 50% undergraduate tuition waiver for eligible dependents at Illinois public universities.

•   Actually take your time off with 5 weeks vacation, 40 sick days, and the institution closes Christmas through New Year's (in addition to all major holidays!)

Qualifications

•   Degree: MD or DO

•   Certifications: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry

•   Experience: Open to clinicians, educators, and research-oriented candidates

•   Sponsorship: H1B & J1 visa sponsorship available

About the Community

•   Live where your quality of life matches your career. Affordable housing, a low cost of living, and the financial flexibility to do more outside of work.

•   Trade traffic for free time. Spend less time commuting and more time with family - local parks, lakes, golf courses, and outdoor recreation minutes from home.

•   Get the best of both worlds. The charm of a close-knit community with St. Louis 1.5 hours away and Chicago at 3 - easy reach for travel, entertainment, and culture.

•   Put down roots in a city built for families. Highly rated schools, welcoming neighborhoods, historic Lincoln sites, and a growing food and arts scene make it an easy place to call home.
