What You’ll Do
- Provide patient-centered care to a diverse population on the PCU with a focus on cardiac and medical stepdown patients
- Manage and titrate cardiac drips, insulin, vasopressors, and other medications such as Amiodarone, Dopamine, and Levophed
- Monitor patients with respiratory failure, CVA, DKA, sepsis, post-surgical recovery, and other complex conditions
- Utilize EMR systems (Meditech Expanse) for documentation and coordination with multidisciplinary teams
- Assist with procedures including managing venous sheaths, TR Bands, and temporary pacemakers
- Collaborate with support staff including CNAs, techs, RT, support nurses, and hospitalists to ensure optimal patient care
- Follow hospital policies for safety, infection control, and patient monitoring
What You Need
- Required:
- Valid RN license in Louisiana or willing to obtain
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications
- Minimum of 2 years PCU RN experience in acute care settings
- Preferred:
- LVAD certification (for certain units)
- Experience with cardiac monitoring and complex medication management
- Ability to perform EKG competency exam successfully
