What You’ll Do
- Provide specialized nursing care to oncology and hematology patients, including BMT and leukemia cases
- Administer medications and treatments, including bedside CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies
- Monitor patient vital signs and administrate therapies using Epic-integrated equipment like IV pumps and barcode medication systems
- Collaborate with medical teams to develop and implement patient care plans
- Document patient progress accurately and securely in electronic health records
- Support patient comfort and ensure safety during complex medical procedures
- Participate in unit-specific workflows and emergency response teams as needed
What You Need
- Valid RN license in Louisiana or compact state
- BLS certification (required)
- ACLS certification (required)
- Experience in oncology, hematology, or Bone Marrow Transplant (preferred)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, acute care environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
About the Assignment
This role is based in a 7-bed positive pressure unit specializing in Bone Marrow Transplant and acute leukemia care. The unit features bedside CVC insertions, bone marrow biopsies, and uses advanced Epic-integrated equipment. First-time travelers are welcome, and weekend coverage is needed every other week. The unit also floats to other units as required, with a focus on patient-centered care for diverse oncology populations.
