Autonomous Nurse Practitioner – Primary Care | Flexible Weekday Schedule

Floyd Lee Locums is seeking an experienced Autonomous Nurse Practitioner to provide primary care services in a correctional healthcare setting in Virginia. This full-time assignment offers a consistent weekday schedule with no call responsibilities and the option of five 8-hour or four 10-hour shifts.

Assignment Details

• 3-6 month assignment


• Start as soon as credentialed


• Approximately 3-week credentialing timeframe


• Full-time weekday coverage

  • Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
  
  
  • Four 10-hour shifts, approximately 6:00 AM-5:00 PM
  
  
  
  


• No call


• Correctional healthcare setting


• Approximately 16 patients per 8-hour day or 20 patients per 10-hour day


• Standard visits are approximately 30 minutes, with additional time for complex patients


• Paper charting and Cerner Millennium

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary care to an adult correctional patient population


• Evaluate patient histories, symptoms, physical findings, and diagnostic information


• Diagnose and treat acute illnesses, infections, injuries, and chronic medical conditions


• Develop appropriate treatment plans and recommend diagnostic or therapeutic interventions


• Provide medication management and prescribe medications within authorized scope of practice


• Educate patients regarding acute and chronic disease management


• Provide evidence-based health education


• Collaborate with nursing staff and other advanced practice providers


• Assist with treatment plan development and modification


• Complete accurate clinical documentation and follow institutional healthcare protocols

Requirements

• Autonomous Nurse Practitioner


• Active Virginia license required


• Board Certified or Board Eligible


• Active DEA registration


• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or Red Cross


• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary correctional healthcare environment


• Required identification and background-clearance documentation


• Two MD/DO professional references
