Critical Care PA – Cardiac ICU | 3 Shifts Per Week | Central Pennsylvania

Overview

A hospital-based cardiac critical care program in central Pennsylvania is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant for locum tenens coverage. This role focuses on complex cardiac ICU patients under Intensivist guidance and requires advanced experience with mechanical circulatory support and cardiac transplant care. (Job ID: 51627)

• Assignment: September 2026-April 2027


• Schedule: Three 13-hour shifts per week


• Shifts: 7am-8pm or 7pm-8am


• Nights, weekends, and holidays required


• Setting: Cardiac ICU


• Patient Volume: Approximately 8-12 patients per shift


• Responsibilities include rounding, admissions, patient management, order entry, and post-operative care


• Scope includes VA/VV ECMO, Impella, LVAD, and cardiac transplant management


• Procedures include arterial lines, central lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, and IABP removal

Requirements

• Board-certified PA with critical care experience


• Cardiac ICU experience required


• ACLS and BLS required


• Experience managing VA/VV ECMO, Impella, LVAD, and cardiac transplant patients


• Proficiency with arterial lines, central lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, and IABP removal
