What You’ll Do
- Provide exceptional patient care for oncology and progressive care pediatric patients
- Monitor high-acuity patients using GE telemetry systems and invasive equipment
- Administer medications, including IV drips, PCA pumps, and blood products
- Manage central and peripheral lines, ports, and PICC lines
- Respond to rapid response team activations and acute patient changes
- Ensure infection prevention protocols and patient safety measures
- Collaborate with healthcare team to deliver continuous, coordinated care
What You Need
- Ohio RN license (Active)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience (at least 1 year in PCU preferred)
- Certifications: BCLS, ACLS, NIH; additional preferred but not required
- Skills: Dysrhythmia interpretation, IV placement, blood product administration, invasive line management, basic airway management
- Ability to float within units of similar acuity
- Required skills include: IV placement, cardiac rhythm management, and patient assessment
- Preferred skills: Chemotherapy administration, wound care, arterial line management
About the Assignment
This position is in our 36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit, specifically on the Medical Oncology PCU. The unit provides high-acuity care for a range of oncology diagnoses, including solid tumors, orthopedic, and thoracic oncology. Pediatric patients are infrequently cared for on this unit, but previous pediatric experience is not required. The role involves maintaining safety and quality standards in a busy, evolving environment with a focus on infection control and patient safety.
