Opportunity Highlights

• Schedule: 24-hour call shifts (7a-7a); approximately 7 days/month on average. September 3 (7a) - September 7 (7a); ongoing dates possible.
• Job Setting: Emergency Room - Trauma Level III (St. Mary-Corwin Hospital)
• Types of Cases: Trauma call coverage; most common cases include acute cholecystitis, lacerations to arm, perforated bowel, and falls (co-managed with ortho and medicine). Laparoscopy required. No endoscopy or vascular required. Patient population: Adult, Geriatric. 42 beds; 2-4 admissions; approximately 30,000 ED visits/year.
• Required Procedures/Job Duties: Serve on call for trauma surgery at a Level III trauma center; perform surgery when needed; assist in transfers; assess trauma patients by request of ED provider; admit patients as needed; central line placement.
• EMR: EPIC (EMR module training and virtual training must be completed prior to first day. Modules must be completed before virtual training. Virtual training must be completed at least one week prior to first day.)
• Credentialing: 30 days for standard privileges. Emergency privileges available. No credentialing with other facilities required.

Minimum Requirements

• Board Certified/Board Eligible: Board Certified in General Surgery - Required
• Certifications: Active ACLS - Required; Active ATLS - Required; Active BLS - Required
• Licensure: Active Colorado license or Active IMLC (Letter of Qualification in hand at time of presentation) - Required; Active DEA - Highly Preferred (Required for credentialing; site will consider a transferred DEA, however provider must keep this DEA for the duration of the assignment. Transfer DEA required for September dates.)
• Additional Requirements: Clean Malpractice/Background - Required; Candidates must be available for September dates to be considered for ongoing dates; Candidates must disclose number of shifts per month available for ongoing scheduling; Candidate must acknowledge and agree to complete EMR training requirements in the specified order prior to start date.
