What You’ll Do
- Manage stepdown and medical-surgical patients with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 (RN) and 1:9 (CNA)
- Monitor cardiac telemetry in each patient room, ensuring accurate and timely documentation
- Administer titratable medications (such as Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, Levophed) with manager approval if experienced
- Assist with chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and lumbar drains (preferred skills)
- Provide ongoing assessment and support for patients with conditions such as CVA/TIA, post-surgical recovery, DKA, COPD, and heart conditions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including RT, OT, PT, and hospitalist staff
What You Need
- Valid RN license in Louisiana or approved compact state
- Minimum of 2 years acute care RN experience in med/surg or stepdown units
- Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH
- Key Skills: Ability to perform EKG competency, manage titratable IV medications, and support telemetry monitoring
- Preferred: Experience with chest tubes, tracheostomies, peritoneal dialysis, and lumbar drains
