Part-Time Adult Psychiatry Locum Tenens Job in the California Bay Area

Jackson and Coker is seeking an Adult Psychiatrist for part time outpatient locum tenens coverage at a community mental health clinic in the California Bay Area. This is an excellent opportunity for a psychiatrist who enjoys working with a diverse patient population and has a strong background in community mental health.

Position Details
--Adult outpatient psychiatry
--1 day per week, approximately 8 hours per day
--Typical schedule is 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
--Flexible regarding which day of the week the psychiatrist works
--100% onsite
--Approximately 30 current patients, with an ideal panel of approximately 50 patients
--Mix of medication management and psychiatric evaluations
--Experience working with moderate to severe mental illness and substance use disorders is highly valued
--Strong preference for a psychiatrist who takes a harm reduction focused and patient centered approach
--Provider should be comfortable working independently and proactively within a community mental health setting
--Board Certification required
--Must be comfortable working within an electronic health record
--Credentialing and onboarding can take approximately 1 month
--September 2026 start preferred, with the ability to begin as soon as credentialing is complete
--Minimum 3 month commitment preferred, with potential for ongoing coverage

The ideal psychiatrist will have experience in community mental health and feel comfortable treating patients with complex psychiatric needs and co occurring substance use disorders. A collaborative, patient centered approach and the ability to work independently are especially important for this opportunity.
