What You’ll Do
- Provide expert nursing care to medical-surgical, ortho, neuro, and telemetry patients
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret telemetry strips, and manage non-titrating cardiac drips
- Assist with complex patient procedures including ORIF, total joints, spinal surgeries, and more
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including RT, wound care, and hospitalists
- Support patient safety through correct use of charting systems (Meditech Expanse) and equipment (Alaris pumps, Pyxis)
- Maintain compliance with PPE protocols and infection control standards
- Float to similar units as needed and participate in unit orientation and team activities
What You Need
Required:
- Valid RN license in Louisiana
- 2+ years of acute care RN experience in Med Surg, Neuro, Ortho, Telemetry
- Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications
- Ability to pass an EKG competency exam
- Experience with cardiac rhythms, drains, wound vacs, trachs, central lines, dialysis procedures
Preferred:
- Telemetry experience with cardiac monitoring and interpretation
- Experience managing non-titrating cardiac drips and drains
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills
About the Assignment
This assignment is at a leading hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana, with a 21-bed unit specializing in Med Surg, Ortho, Neuro, and Telemetry patients. The unit offers a team-oriented culture with open communication, and the floor is well-equipped with modern EMR systems. The RN will work four days one week and three the next, with a rotation of every other weekend and coverage for two-thirds of holidays. There is no on-call requirement.
