What You’ll Do
- Provide direct patient care on Cardiac and Medical Stepdown units
- Titrate cardiac drips, insulin, and vasopressors including Esmolol, Cardene, Nitroglycerin, Amiodarone, and others
- Manage central lines, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and wound care
- Monitor and respond to patient needs for respiratory, cardiac, and vascular stability
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including support staff and hospitalists
- Utilize EMR systems (Meditech Expanse) for accurate documentation
- Execute unit protocols and ensure patient safety
What You Need
- Required:
- Valid RN license, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certification
- 2+ years of current acute care RN experience in PCU or similar
- Ability to pass an EKG competency exam
- Preferred:
- LVAD certification (for 2 West unit)
- Experience with venous sheath management and temporary pacemakers
- Skills in titration of cardiac and vasopressor medications
About the Assignment
Join a dynamic, diverse, and traveler-friendly environment at a leading facility in Shreveport, LA. You will be assigned to one of three specialized units: Cardiac Stepdown (post-CABG, lung surgeries, PCI, TAVR, and AICD), Medical Stepdown (focusing on respiratory, CVA, sepsis, post-surgical care, and more), or Cardiac Overflow. The unit maintains a patient ratio of approximately 1:3-4, with support staff readily available to ensure optimal patient care. This assignment provides 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend off, and works around major holidays, with scheduling flexibility for time off requests.
