What You’ll Do
- Provide direct patient care to adult patients with active oncology diagnoses and other complex conditions
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret dysrhythmias, and manage telemetry equipment
- Administer IV insulin protocols and manage insulin drips
- Collaborate with healthcare team to implement patient care plans
- Assist with special procedures on a secure correctional health unit
- Document patient observations and interventions accurately
- Respond efficiently to patient emergencies and changing conditions
What You Need
Required:
- Valid RN license in Ohio or ability to obtain
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- At least 1 year of telemetry experience
- Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
- Experience with IV insulin protocols and drips
Preferred:
- Experience working with oncology patients
- Prior correctional healthcare experience
- Flexibility to float within the unit
About the Assignment
This position is at a secure correctional health unit within Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC). The unit is locked, requiring access from corrections officers. You will provide critical nursing care to inmates with complex medical needs, including oncology cases, surgical patients, and those with respiratory or infectious conditions. The unit operates 24/7, supporting an essential public health role.
