Description
25-bed Critical Access Hospital | Level IV Trauma Center with no inpatient ICU
~10,200 ED visits/year | 6 ER beds
Flexible 12- or 24-hour shifts (8a–8p / 8p–8a)
High-acuity rural ED with adult, pediatric, trauma, and critical-care patients
Frequent MVCs, oil field/industrial injuries, GSWs, and stabbings
Approximately 1 emergency delivery/month — NRP certification required
Providers should be comfortable with intubations, chest tubes, and managing ventilated/critical patients independently during extended transfer times
ED provider responds to in-house codes and rapid responses
Trauma activations and transfers are supported by MedCom/STRAC, local EMS, and air transport
CT, X-ray, ultrasound, ventilators, GlideScope, capnography, and blood products available
Respiratory Therapy and pharmacy support available
Primary transfers go to San Antonio, with occasional transfers to Laredo
Skills
Must have ER experience, Must be comfortable with all ER procedures
Notes
Must have ATLS, ACLS, PALS, BLS, and NRP
