We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant for a dynamic 75-day assignment in Ohio. This essential role involves a Monday through Friday schedule, with responsibilities spanning 12-hour night call or day rounding (7a-5p or 5pm-7am call), and includes occasional night and weekend call. The Physician Assistant will be integral to managing a variety of routine cardiothoracic cases, such as CABG, valves, complex aorta, lobectomy cases, and VATS, with a focus on vein harvesting using endoscopic techniques.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Conduct 12-hour night call or day rounding (7a-5p or 5pm-7am call).
• Handle routine cardiothoracic cases, including CABG, valves, complex aorta, lobectomy cases, and VATS.
• Perform vein harvesting, utilizing endoscopic techniques with Maquet Hemopro 2.
• Manage occasional ECMO cases; no advanced heart failure, VAD, or transplants.
• Be available for call shifts within 30 minutes of the hospital if local; accommodation will be provided in a nearby hotel if not local.
• Manage calls, with a low chance of being called into the hospital (approximately 7%, or once every 10 shifts).

• Call Schedule: Out of house call, occasional night and weekend call, with most calls handled over the phone. If called in, must be within 30 minutes of hospital.
• Patients Per Day: 1-4
• LOA: 75 Days
• Staffing Mix: 4 surgeons, 4 full-time surgical APPs, 1 part-time APP, and 1 new grad APP being trained. This team covers 2 campuses.
