Day and Night shifts are now available 24 hour call coverage is needed Potential Option for Academic Affiliation Optional Hospital Details: A leader in emergency medicine and trauma care, our Hospital is a Level I Trauma Center, distinguishing us as meeting the highest possible standards for trauma care in the U.S. Delivering this standard of excellence is made possible by a collaborative team made up of some of the nation’s finest surgeons, doctors, nurses, technicians, lab personnel and many others who work diligently to offer the best in emergency and trauma medicine Our Medical Center offers emergency care across the greater metro-Detroit region, including specialized trauma care centers. Trauma centers are given level designations depending on the center’s ability to provide comprehensive services to treat a variety of medical traumas. Trauma centers vary from Level I to Level V designations, with Level I Trauma Centers being the most able to provide care for complex medical issues. In addition to trauma centers, which are housed as a part of the emergency room at our hospitals, Our Medical Center also offers inpatient critical care units. Commonly called the ICU, intensive care units are specialized units providing care to our most critical patients. Outpatient Treatment: Outpatient treatment services at our clinics include multidisciplinary evaluation and diagnosis, individual and family therapy, occupational therapy groups, medication management, and case management. Our staff includes psychiatrists, residents, social workers, clinical nurse specialists/nurse practitioners and a social work case manager. Most new patients are first seen in our Crisis Center/Intake and Emergency Program. Crisis Center: Our Hospital is a Level 1 Emergency/Trauma Center with 320-beds and a volume of 98,000 patients per year. Twenty-four percent of the patients seen in the Department are admitted. Hospital offers services that are unique to the metropolitan Detroit area: • Psychiatric Crisis Center open 24 hours a day. • Rape Crisis Center with a rape counselor who is on duty 24 hours a day. • A stroke team which applies cutting edge knowledge and technologies to the acute care of cerebrovascular disease. Metro Detroit’s first certified stroke center. • Michigan’s first 24/7 hyperbaric oxygen therapy program. Unique characteristics of the Emergency Department include: • Ambulatory Receiving Care/Rapid Care for patients with minor medical problems. • A separate resuscitation area that can handle 3 patients simultaneously. • A five room radiology suite adjacent to the acute care area including CAT scan. • A STAT Lab adjacent to the department. • On line telemetry capability. • A highly active toxicology teaching and consultative service which is always available to provide input to managing challenging toxicology cases. Child/ Adolescent Psychiatry Services: Specialists on staff in psychiatry/psychology at our Children's Hospital provide a variety of consultative and treatment services for preschoolers, children, and adolescents. The department focuses on specialty services designed to address many of the emotional and behavioral needs of the medically ill patients who are seen at the Children's Hospital. Clinical staff, and trainees see patients in select outpatient clinics, in consultation to the pediatric units and emergency department, and for specialized treatment services.
