The 225-bed facility recently completed an $80-million expansion that includes a new Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Outpatient Services Unit, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, and The Grossman Burn Center. Healthgrades (a leading independent health care rating company) announced that West Hills Hospital has received the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence for 2011 & 2012, the Clinical Excellence Award for Critical Care for 2012. West Hills Hospital is also among the Top 100 Hospitals nationwide for Gastrointestinal and General Surgery. West Hills Hospital was the first Accredited Chest Pain Center in Los Angeles County, and also recently received a Certificate of Distinction as a Primary Stroke Center from the Joint Commission. 1. Title: Laboratory Services Director 2. Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO) 3. Summary of Responsibilities: Responsibilities include directing and coordinating the operations of the Laboratory Department. The areas include performance and testing in hematology, chemistry, blood bank, microbiology, blood processing, pathology, and histology as well as a significant lab outreach program. Must demonstrate a strong degree of independent judgment and decision-making skills as well as creativity and resourcefulness. Must be able to complete projects in a timely manner and demonstrate the ability to select, train, motivate and develop subordinates. Must exhibit the ability to keep current with skills in laboratory technology and management. Must assess and evaluate care/services provided, staffing levels, competency and educational needs of all employees. Must be able to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication and development and implementation of organizational and departmental policies, procedures, goals and objectives. Must maintain an environment for performance improvement and must be responsible to adapt to organizational change and community needs. #LI-FW
