Standard Qualifications: Position Requirements Required Registration, Licensure or Certification l Current Licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) l Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course, as specified in policy l Successful completion of Dysrhythmia Exam within allotted time f r a m e , as specified in policy l Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) verification course within allotted time frame, as specified in policy l For Managers in MICU - NIH Preferred Registration, Licensure or Certification l For Managers in MICU - CRRT l For Managers in SICU - TNCC, CRRT, NIH Required Education or Experience l Bachelor's degree in Nursing l Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing l Three years supervisory experience Preferred Education or Experience l None Required Knowledge and Skills l Ability to uti lize the nursing process in the provision of nursing care including, but not limited to, administering treatments and medications, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a plan of care, collaborating with other health care providers and providing education to patients and/or significant others l Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively l Possess personal computer skills l Ability to multi-task, delegate and prioritize l Possess problem solving and critical thinking skills l Follows and maintains current evidence based and research driven nursing practices and quality measures including but not limited to: l VAP prevention and implementation of VAP bundle l Skin & Wound Care including prevention of pressure wounds l Meeting & Exceeding Core Measures as determined by National Standards l Proactive care to reduce Catheter Acquired UTIs l Protecting patient safety and being cognizant of Fall Risk and interventions to prevent falls l Utilizing restraints safely as per hospital policy l Display competence in the following (may be unit specific - training provided during orientation): l Interpreting EKG rhythms l Vasoactive and Cardiac IV medications l Ventilator management l MediTech documentation including visual flow sheet l Arterial and Venous blood draws l Obtaini ng 12-lead EKGs Preferred Knowledge and Skills l None
