As a full-service, acute care hospital in East El Paso with a Level II Trauma designation in Emergency Services, we continue to expand our services to meet the growing needs of our tristate community, providing special expertise in Cardiology, Maternity & Child Services, a Level III NICU, a Center of Excellence designation for our Bariatric Clinic, a Level II Trauma Center, and a newly renovated 32-bed Rehabilitation Hospital.  The physicians, nurses and staff at our 350-bed hospital are committed to providing the highest quality care with compassion and integrity.  POSITION SUMMARY:  Under the direction of the Radiologic Technologists, performs duties, which include sorting of films to be placed in for reading, filing, logging in of procedures, answers telephone and routing of mail. Assist Staff technologist in providing patient services utilizing diagnostic imaging modalities. Practices sterile technique when required and transport of patients to other modalities within Imaging Services. Possesses some knowledge of basic radiation protection, anatomy, positioning, and medical terminology. Performs a variety of duties, which include small amount of typing, computer knowledge and skills not requiring constant supervision. Will perform other related duties as required.  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:   Assures that films are placed in to the radiologists area for reading in a timely and efficient manner.  Assists physicians and other staff members in locating patient film jackets and reports.  Assures that the examination room is cleaned and stocked with appropriate supplies.  Assists technologist to prepare patient for the designated examination.  Completes daily assignments in an efficient and effect manner to ensure professional operation of the department.  Practices sterile technique when required. Wears protective gloves, aprons, lead aprons, gowns, masks, etc. when deemed appropriate for either radiation safety as well as infectious safety.  Transport patients to and from the Radiology Department. Responsibility for the proper transportation and safety of the patient.  Treats patients with dignity and respect. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age specific care to patients in his or her assigned duties.  Performs a variety of clerical tasks to include; pulling jackets, sorting films to be placed for reading, filing, logging in of procedures, answers telephone, typing, computer knowledge, inputting / editing exams, and completion of requisition prior to setting films to be read.  Demonstrates Customer Service/Service Plus principles and behaviors appropriately.  Completes daily assignments in an efficient and effective manner to ensure professional operation of the department.  Other duties as assigned.
