Standard Qualifications: POSITION SUMMARY: The Manager is responsible for unit-based supervision, staffing coordination, and evaluation of nursing and clinical personnel assigned to the unit. Works in conjunction with Women's and Children's Leadership Team in the development, implementation and collection of data related to pertinent patient safety at the local hospital level. Works closely with Manager/Director and Clinical Educator of Women's and Children's Services.. Conducts inservices and/or other educational activities. Expected to perform direct patient care as necessary, including assessing, planning, and evaluating the care of patients when needed. Performs daily rounds on the units to assess patient satisfaction, cleanliness, and safety concerns. Promotes a supportive, teamwork-oriented environment and participate in performance improvement activities to assure continuous quality improvement. Maintains cultural and diversity awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers, and all other customers. Works under guidance from state and national agencies (Joint Commission, CMS, ACOG, AWHONN) to ensure unit compliance to regulatory practices as they relate to the obstetric client. Maintains professional and collegial relationship with all Primary Care Provider groups to ensure optimum patient safety in accordance with established practice guidelines.
