Assists in the investigation and resolution of departmental specific problems/complaints from physicians' patients, and their families, nursing and other laboratory or hospital personnel. Performs clinical laboratory testing in all/or designated areas and is responsible for reviewing daily reports. He/she is responsible for reviewing monthly quality control for his/her section, to include documenting variances and providing explanations for outliers and/or trending. Ensures major automated equipment is operational by performing required maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting procedures daily, or as needed. Ensures adequate supply levels for the assigned section and/or department. Instrumental in the review and preparation of departmental policies and procedures. Performs laboratory testing as necessary. Participates in bi-annual CAP inspections. Communicates to Laboratory Management all issues concerning the functioning of the laboratory. Employee will be responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the neonate, infant child, adolescent, adult and geriatric population. He/she will perform tasks as assigned by the Supervisor within his/her scope of training.
