Standard Qualifications: Position Summary: The Lactation Consultant provides current, manageable and meaningful instructions for clients of all ages in compliance with standards. The Lactation Consultant functions within the philosophy, policies and procedures of the hospital and represents the hospital and represents the hospital within and outside the organization with a general feeling of positive support. Functions include: maternal/infant dyad breastfeeding support and intervention in the inpatient setting and telephone consults, facilitation of breastfeeding education to client and professionals. The lactation consultant works as a team member with other healthcare disciplines to achieve optimal patient care outcomes.
