Standard Qualifications: What We Do We are a 37 bed acute care specialty unit that primarily provides inpatient care and treatment for patients who have sustained blunt or penetrating injury, as well as those who may require surgical intervention. This includes care of the patient with suspected or confirmed intra abdominal injuries, complex wound management, orthopedic fractures, head/neck/face injuries, brain trauma, chest trauma and pulmonary injury. Many of these patients will require some degree of cognitive and/or mobility rehabilitation and training involving Who We Are We have a team culture on our unit. The Trauma/Medical Unit staff is composed of registered nurses and certified nurse aides, many having advanced degree preparation and/or specialty training and certification. Our larger community includes physicians, nurse practitioners, case managers, speech therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, dieticians, and many more. Here on the Trauma/Medical Unit, we promote a philosophy of patient and family-centered care that utilizes a primary nursing modality of relationship-based care. Registered Nurse (RN) Med/Surg Trauma Full Time - Nights Position Summary: Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for the department -specific patient population in accordance with the standards of nursing care and practice as defined by Wesley Medical Center and the Kansas Nurse Practice Act. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Supports the organization vision and mission. Utilizes knowledge of patient's age and cultural diversity in the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care
