Standard Qualifications: PORTSMOUTH REGIONAL HOSPITAL Position Description Position Title: Critical Care Technician (CCT) Department: Interventional Care Unit (IVCU) POSITION SUMMARY: The CCT position has three essential components: LNA: The CCT provides direct, selected patient care under the direction of the Licensed Nurse within their scope of practice as defined by the NH Board of Nursing, recognized nursing techniques, clinical and administrative policies. The CCT also performs telemetry monitoring and non clinical duties under the direction of a Licensed Nurse. Virtual Sitter (VS): The CCT will provide constant, real-time video monitoring on a patient that has been identified as a high risk for a fall, confused, ambulatory patients at risk of wondering, eloping or falling based off of the Portsmouth Regional Hospital Virtual Sitter Selection Criteria via the Virtual Sitter System. Rhythm Technician (RT): The CCT will provide constant monitoring of heart rhythms and dysrhythmia interpretation as directed by the physicians or nurse via the telemetry room system. SPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. CCT provides sensitivity and respect to the patient, family and/or significant other(s). 2. CCT provides constant, real-time video monitoring and documents per Virtual Sitter policy. 3. CCT's responsibility is to watch the patient and assure his/her safety. 4. CCT provides constant monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation of heart rhythms and document per Telemetry Monitoring policy. 5. CCT monitors, records and communicates patient condition as needed. 6. CCT orients and mentors new staff members. 7. CCT complies with infection control precaution standards. 8. CCT complies with safety and security policies of the hospital. 9. CCT collects and reports data as directed by the licensed nurse. 10. CCT provides ADL needs of the patient: hygiene, care and comfort measures, mobility and ambulation, nutritional needs and feeding. 11. CCT transports patients to various departments/services throughout the hospital. 12. CCT provides patient monitoring as directed to ensure patient safety. 13. CCT transcription of medical orders. 14. CCT assists with scheduling of procedures/testing 15. CCT obtains/maintains supplies and equipment 16. CCT performs general clerical duties including use of computer systems 17. CCT provides customer service functions. 18. CCT telephone triage 19.
