The hospital provides the full scope of services for general ultrasound. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Must be registry eligible and pass the registry and becomes ARDMS certified within 18 months of hire. Preferred: Multiple years as a staff sonographer EDUCATION Required: Responsible for continuing education credits as mandated by the ARRT or the SDMS for licensure. Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology and trained in ultrasound technology. Graduate of AMA approved School of Ultrasound Technology   LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION : (Required or Preferred) American Registry of Radiologic Technology or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (required) American Society of Radiologic Technology or Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (preferred) Current CPR certification (required) SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Obtain quality ultrasound images of patients Manage all ultrasound equipment and recognize significant diagnostic information Demonstrates ability to perform all necessary computer operations Render patient care in a professional and courteous manner Prepare ultrasound machine and perform quality control tests Assist radiology nurse or radiologist in administering medications, performing biopsies and all types care to patient Reviews each exam for technical accuracy and identifies anatomical orientation on all images Demonstrates willingness to assist in additional duties Completes and maintains educational requirements Participates in various departmental process improvement activities About our employer HCA is a provider of healthcare services, a company comprised of locally managed facilities that includes 165 hospitals and 115 freestanding surgery centers in 20 states and England and employing approximately 204,000 people.
