Position: RN CC - PRN - Days POSITION SUMMARY (includes, but is not limited to): The Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse is responsible for coordinating a comprehensive program for the nursing care, education and rehabilitation of patients requiring wound, ostomy, and incontinence care. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Collaborate with the nursing and medical staff to provide/instruct the following in patient care fro the following patients: altered patterns of bowel or urinary elimination, fistulas, draining wounds and altered skin integrity.Provide outpatient consultation servicesCollaborate with the education department to provide nursing staff with education related to current concepts of wound, ostomy, continence careMeet periodically with appliance representatives to keep current in the advances of available productsInvestigate and recommend new approaches in the nursing care of wound, ostomy, and continence patientsMaintain and submit necessary reports and records pertaining to specialty. Compile monthly and annual reports.Collaborate with Supply chain to maintain adequate inventories of supplies related to the specialtyRecommend, through departmental committees, the investigation, research of follow up of clinical studiesMonitor staff documentation related to care of any wound, ostomy, and continence patientsRecommend changes to wound ostomy continence practice to improve the standard of carePerform other related functions as assigned
