Today, we have approximately 2,000 staff members and 900 physicians in multiple specialties - more talent and experience than any other hospital in the region.   Clear Lake Regional Medical Center is looking for a Registered Nurse for their Wound Care Inpatient dept. This is a full time position.   Responsibilities:  The wound care nurse is a Licensed RN with wound care experience, responsible for assessing and planning care for any patient with a pressure ulcer, other wound types or skin care issue, when consulted by the physician The wound care nurse will collaborate with other members of the health care team in the treatment and management of acute and chronic wounds as well as in the prevention of pressure ulcers.  Assess and plan care for patients with wounds when consulted by a physician.  Demonstrates competence and expertise in daily patient care, providing collaboration, direction, and instruction to staff in the application and use of current wound care products and resources.  Promotes a team approach through collaboration with the physician, registered dietician, physical therapist, staff nurses, and family members.  Serves as a patient advocate.  Provides safe care according to legal, ethical, and institutional standards.  Serves as consultant to patient, family, and staff.  Assists physician with procedures and dressing changes  Maintains up to date wound care knowledge through symposiums, professional journals, conferences, etc and shares this information with staff.  Participates in setting standards and protocols for pressure ulcer prevention.  Responsible for maintaining customer friendly atmosphere.  Promotes fiscal responsibility in the use of wound care resources.  Models and reinforces behavior consistent with goals for teaching the patient, communicates patient status to appropriate member of the healthcare team, and provides support to the family, as needed.  Scanning supplies from P.O.U. area.  Responsible for scanning patient armbands and administering medications via e-MAR.  Monitors the prevalence and incidence of hospital-acquired pressure ulcers and takes steps to correct problem.  Ensures adequate materials are available for patients with wounds.  Assesses patients upon initial consult and re-evaluates at least weekly.  Assist nurses with complicated dressing changes and with dressing suggestion with or without consult.  Responsible for maintaining Patient Safety Goals.
