Standard Qualifications: The Interventional Radiology Technologist assists and supports the Interventional Radiologists in maintaining sterile fields, procedural tray prep and procedural supplies. The interventional technologist carries out responsibilities in both administrative support and technical areas including but not limited to those as outlined below. 1. Performs Interventional Radiology exams following protocols and in a timely manner, ensuring a high quality of care. 2. Prepares procedure trays with appropriate supplies 3. Prep and drape of patient and equipment prior to procedure. 4. Scrub and assists with procedures maintaining sterile technique. 5. Provides post procedure care to the patient (includes holding pressure as well as cleaning, suturing and bandaging of procedure site) 6. Pulls needed equipment/product, circulating for cases as needed and where appropriate. 7. Executes protocol appropriately on all radiographic equipment 8. Takes patient history and retrieves any necessary orders or prior images. 9. Provides patient history/signs/symptoms appropriate to the exam to the radiologist 10. Appropriately completes documentation including patient demographics, images and dose data 11. Coordinates patient flow and checks daily list to ensure all exams are complete. 12. Supports ALARA by appropriately alerting physicians of intraprocedure dose thresholds 13. Informs patient about procedure and answers questions. 14. Interacts and professionally communicates with physicians, patients and family members. 15. Starts IVs for contrast administration 16. Uses power injector 17. Contributes to after hour coverage through on-call shift rotations. 18. Maintains all licenses, certifications and accreditations required as outlined in Job Qualifications 19. Daily upkeep of departmental work areas (cleaning, stocking, etc) 20. Promotes customer service initiative by adhering to the ICARE values 21. Supports and participates in quality (QI) and performance improvement (PI) plans. 22. Compliance with quarterly targeted metrics (i.e. Kronos, HealthStream, PACS, etc) 23. Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served. 24. Other duties as assigned.
