Job Description: Assists with training and precepting lactation team members, staff nurses, other health care providers and students. Develops community outreach as needed. Monitors outcomes, maintains lactation related data and identifies Quality Improvement projectsServes as an advocate for patient/family/SO regarding decisions affecting the Plan of Care.Performs newborn transition, to include bath in a timely manner.Takes and records vital signs during transition according to Newborn Nursery Standards of Care. Provides and documents lactation assistance and education to mothers and their babies who are in the NICU and/or other specialty units.Provides assistance to mothers and their babies who have complex or multiple risk factors that could lead to or cause problems with breastfeeding/lactation.
