Standard Qualifications: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse: Provides direct patient care to labor and delivery patients in a family-centered approach, in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization, as well as guidelines of professional organizations. Oversees and directs the care of pregnant women and their families. Provides care to low-risk, high-risk, and critical-care pregnant women and their families. Responsible for the care of pregnant patients and their families in Antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods. In addition, the obstetric RN cares for patients during vaginal and/or cesarean delivry, as well as other Obstetrical surgical procedures. Serves as the primary nurse leading the collaboration of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Oversees and directs the care of assistive personnel, maintaining final accountability for the care given to assigned patients. When the need arises, the employee will perform other duties within the scope of practice as assigned by his or her supervisor.
