Standard Qualifications:  Registered Nurse Supervisor - RN Supervisor Medical Surgical Unit - Med Surg  Medical City Alliance is a 55-bed, acute care hospital that opened in February 2015. The three-story, 155,000 square foot full-service facility serves the communities of Fort Worth, Keller, Roanoke, Haslet, Saginaw and surrounding communities in northern Tarrant county and southern Denton county. Medical City Alliance offers a full range of services, specializing in women's, cardiology, robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery, and emergency care and has been recognized by The Joint Commission for the Hospital Accreditation Program for 2015.  POSITION SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the unit's Director or designee the Med Surg RN Supervisor assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions in the unit on his/her designated shifts. In collaboration with other members of the management team, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in unit.  Assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions during the designated shiftFunctions as a resource person for staff members and assists in necessary education of individual members of the nursing staff.Assumes responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided when s/he is on duty.Makes decisions regarding activities within these areas based on Administrative Operational Standards, Nursing Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards, and Standards of Care for the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES  Ensures that Departmental mission and objectives are maintained for the unit with interpretation of these objectives to staff as necessary. Coordinates Departmental activities with responsibility for the assessment of the quality and efficiency of these activities. Assesses multiplicity of patient care and Department service needs to coordinate assignment of nursing staff to meet all required services on the unit on designated shift.Ensures implementation of operational standards which promote the maintenance of patient rights including, but not limited to:Informed consent.Clarification of patient expectations.Explanation of treatment processes.Maintenance of confidentiality of patient information.Maintenance of patient privacy by minimizing exposure during all procedures.Adaptation of care to all ages of patients served.Ethical considerations.Handling of patient complaints.Demonstrates sound knowledge base in nursing practice and its clinical application to the patient population served in the unit, including the operation of equipment, and policy and procedures used in the delivery of patient care in the unit.Assists with establishing and maintaining communication channels with Medical Staff and other departments in the Hospital.Supervises personnel providing direct patient care, with delegation of activities based on patient care needs and competencies of available patient care staff.Rounds on patients during the shift
