Standard Qualifications:   Coliseum Center for Behavioral Health in Macon, Georgia provides mental health services to assist adults with psychiatric disorders in a safe, nurturing environment. For over 30 years, our mental health specialists and psychiatrists have provided individualized treatment plans for our patients, giving them the best chances of a full recovery and stability.  We are looking for a new Nursing Supervisor of Behavioral Health, accountable to the Director of Nursing for clinical and operational functions of the 34-bed inpatient unit. The Nursing Supervisor assumes the responsibility of managing the unit's clinical and operations activities in the absence of the Director. In addition, he/she provides direct supervision to RN's, LPS's, MHT's and Unit Secretaries for the adult and/or geriatric units and provides Psychiatric and/or Chemical Dependency nursing services to the adult and/or geriatric population. This will include group, individual, and family assessment and education.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  1. Accepts accountability for directing and overseeing staff roles on unit.  2. Manages the staff on assigned shift to include coaching, corrective action and documentation of corrective action with stated action plan.  3. Coordinates patient placement within the unit according to acuity, skill mix and staff availability.  4. Oversees staffing of the nursing units to be in line with staffing matrix.  5. Assists in identifying and addressing educational needs of the unit.  6. Participates and directs patient care conferences, addressing such issues as patient discharge needs.  7. Assures that staff are available to physicians as required.  8. Keeps informed of patient condition changes, making appropriate clinical decisions.  9. Accountable for orders, assuring that they are appropriate and carried out in a timely manner.  10. Participates and cooperates in the unit based Performance Improvement processes.  11. Supports, maintains and provides an environment which is supportive of quality patient care through effective use of resources and personnel.  12. Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.  13. Serves as the patient and family advocate with respect to the patient's right to privacy by protecting confidential information.  14. Plans and implements patient care and teaching based on a total assessment and the age of the patient.  15. Evaluates and documents patient response; monitors and recognizes changes in physiological and psychosocial status; takes appropriate action based on assessment of the patient.  16. Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, qualify of care or the services delivered.  17. Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.  #LI-SAD
