Standard Qualifications: Owned by Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), Coliseum Medical Centers is a 310 bed facility offering a 24-hour emergency room, inpatient and outpatient surgery options, rehabilitation programs, behavioral health and diagnostic services.  Coliseum Northside is offering a Residency Program in Operating Room Nursing! The StaRN Perioperative Nurse Specialty Program is a unique educational opportunity to meet a critical need for Perioperative Surgical Nurses. It is innovatively designed to provide intense post graduate training for newly licensed and experienced nurses interested in working in the OR setting.  The OR Residency Program will begin Monday: February 12, 2018. The program is comprised of a combination of didactic training, hands-on skills labs, on line education through the AORN Periop 101 Course, hands-on clinical training, and clinical preceptorship at the sponsoring facility.  The program will last for approximately six months/23 weeks (could possibly go longer depending on individual progress). The first twelve (12) weeks includes a combination of didactic education, online learning, and hands-on clinical training in the Hospital Operating Room/Surgical Suite. The remaining twelve (12) weeks is spent at Memorial Hospital working with an experienced clinical preceptor.  Learners will be Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified by the American Heart Association during the program.   Upon successful completion of the program the students will be placed in a Surgical Services Registered Nurse role at Coliseum Northside!  The participating nurse will make a two-year commitment to work at the sponsor hospital. The RN Learner will be obligated to repay a pro-rated portion of the educational costs should the learner break that commitment.   HCA Residency Program - Remainder of your 1 st year  Upon successful completion of the StaRN Program, residents will transition to their full-time roles at the hospital Nurse Residents continue professional development through routine interactions with a mentor (meet at least once a month) Attend a monthly residency seminar Complete an evidence-based capstone project Attend graduation
