The ECT performs assigned tasks and activities according to skill level and patient needs as assessed by the RN. The ECT supports nursing personnel in providing care to patients and assists with providing a safe, quiet, clean, organized environment for healthcare delivery. The ECT is responsible for assistance with patient care, transportation of patients, specimens and supplies; cleaning and stocking the department and patient rooms, and other duties as assigned. The ECT will also demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to perform as a unit secretary as the need arises. Performs assigned tasks and activities according to skill level and patient needs as assessed by the RN. Provides assistance with patient care, transportation of patients, specimens and supplies; cleaning and stocking the department and patient rooms, and other duties as assigned Supports nursing personnel in providing care to patients and assists with providing a safe, quiet, clean, organized environment for healthcare delivery Answers telephone and intercom efficiently and courteously, relaying messages and calls to appropriate personnel and other departments as needed Maintains records, transcribes physician orders, and assures orders are carried out in an expeditious manner Coordinates activities of nursing unit with other departments Recognizes when and how to escalate patient concerns up the chain of command Presents a positive image at all times while directing customers to appropriate areas
