Nurse Oncology Department The oncology/hematology nurse will care for patients with autoimmune, hematological disorders and common cancers. He/she will be proficient in venous access device accession, chemotherapy, phlebotomy, bone marrow aspiration, IV therapy, biotherapy administration and the administration of blood and blood products. Clinical trials participation, rehabilitation and collaboration with other entities are but some of the other functions the oncology/hematology nurse can expect to assist in. Patient and family teaching and coordinating plus encouraging psychological and spiritual care of those individuals are daily interactions that may be expected.
