Unit Information: Two Units: 8 bed ICU and 12 bed PCU Approximately a total of 38 FTEs Average Dailey Census: ICU 6 and PCU 12 Position Summary: The Director, Critical Care, is responsible for supporting, communicating, coordinating and implementing the strategic planning process for ICU and PCU. Responsibilities include planning, directing and coordinating the activities of nursing and support staff to ensure quality patient care is provided in accordance with compliance standards, communicating expectation of the organization to employees and ensuring 24 hour coverage for Critical Care Services. Essential Functions: Maintains current knowledge in all aspects of Critical Care practice Manages all direct and indirect nursing care given to patients within the departments to ensure optimal patient care Determines staffing requirements; interviews, hires and evaluates staff; develops annual goals and budget Provides leadership in compliance with applicable safety and quality standards; provides leadership for growth and development of new services in areas of clinical supervision Oversees staff development, competency and leadership development/mentoring Ensures department wide compliance with statutory mandates, regulatory requirements and accreditation standards of CMS, TJC, CAP, OSHA, EPA, AABB, ARC, EMTALA Designs and implements department quality improvement program; participates in hospital and service line quality improvement efforts Manages the department's operations and resources to achieve quality, financial, growth, productivity and satisfaction objectives for overall success and growth of the departments
