Observation / Clinical Decision Unit Description : The Obs / CDU is for those patients whose level of medical care, surveillance and/or mechanical monitoring does not meet the criteria for admission to inpatient status and/or whose admission does not exceed 24 hours. The types of patients/clients served include; adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Care of the patients requiring diagnostic and therapeutic modalities include those experiencing conditions including but not limited to: Medical, Congestive Heart Failure, Chest Pain of undetermined origin, Rule Out Myocardial Infarction, Rule Out CVA/TIA, Dehydration, Urinary tract Infections, Respiratory Infections, Cerebrovascular Disease, End Stage Renal, Electrophysiology Lab patients (e.g. non-invasive Diagnostic Electrophysiology, ICD Implants, Permanent Pacemaker, Cardioversions, Lead extractions).
