We are searching for a new Phlebotomy Manager with the following primary responsibilities: · Ensuring phlebotomists maintain venipuncture competency and required education. · Training new and existing phlebotomists to perform ordering, venipunctures, bleeding times, workman's comp drug screens, therapeutic phlebotomies, therapeutic drug monitoring, and all other required collections of the laboratory whether being in the Inpatient or Outpatient settings- Same day Surgery, Short-term Outpatient Stay, Emergency department & Radiology. · Creating appropriate staff schedules and ensuring that schedules are available in a timely manner. · Assisting by demonstrating & coaching with difficult collection of specimens (this includes the specialized skills necessary for pediatric collections per Fairview's established collection procedure). · Providing support to phlebotomy staff and ensuring excellent quality & patient care, to include collection of samples, combining requisitions, interpreting handwritten orders as well as those on forms, determining correct tests to order and checking for outstanding orders or specimens, to include microbiology and blood bank departments. · Ensuring that phlebotomist staff members are capable of answering the laboratory phones and customer questions. · Sending results to appropriate entities and receive specimens into the laboratory via the pneumatic tube system. · Ensuring appropriate Meditech routines are completed for collections and receiving supplies as part of inventory control. · Tracking all computer equipment maintenance within the lab and putting patient areas into a good working order.
