St. David's South Austin Medical Center is an acute care facility with 316 beds, offering a range of complex specialties and sub-specialties, including a nationally accredited oncology program with the area's only adult bone marrow transplant program; a trauma program that includes all of the capabilities and programmatic elements of a Level II trauma center to treat the most severely injured and critical patients; a comprehensive cardiac program; full-service maternity and newborn care with Level I and II nurseries; and two full-service emergency centers in the communities of Bee Cave and Bastrop. Unit Description: Cardiovascular Recovery Unit The CVRU is an 8 bed cardiac specialty unit for recovering CABG/OH and other C-V/Cardiac patients. The nurse to patient ratio is typically 2:1 and the unit averages 240-250 admissions per year. The unit boasts of specialty equipment such as Datascope IABP/CentriMag VADS/Vigilence II CO/CI monitors. PICC Services: PICC nurses for insertion of PICC lines/responsible for maintaining all central line dressings. Two of the PICC staff are Sapien competent/proficient POSITION SUMMARY Assists the Department Director in organizing, managing and overseeing the operation of unit. Maintains accountability for the coordination of nursing activities on assigned shift. Directs and supervises the licensed and unlicensed nursing staff in the delivery of patient care. Utilizes the nursing process to direct and deliver comprehensive nursing care to medical/surgical patients in a safe a proficient manner in accordance with individual patient needs. Provides nursing care to cardiovascular and med/surg. patients. Provides guidance and supervision of registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, nursing techs and assistants, and secretaries.
