CARDIOVASCULAR SURGICAL TECHNICIAN CHALLENGES AND TASKS Assists with nursing care of patients under supervision of OR Registered Nurse. Functions as sterile scrub caring for patients undergoing surgery within OR suite. Sets up sterile surgical field using aseptic technique, utilizing knowledge of Human Anatomy and Physiology and physician's preferences for surgical instrumentation, suturing, passing, dissecting, retracting, and closing of surgical wounds. Assists circulating Registered Nurse with operating room set up, equipment, and positioning of the surgical patient. Follow AORN Preoperative Standards and Recommended Practices and the HCA ethical and compliance principles and values. Patient Rights - The OR Technician will work to support and protect the rights of each patient served, treat each patient with dignity and care, and maintain patient confidentiality/privacy. Patient Safety - The OR Technician demonstrates commitment to patient safety initiatives including patient falls, medication safety, National Patient Safety Goals, critical value reporting, and administration of blood products. * THOSE SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS WITH AN (*) ARE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS CONSIDERED NECESSARY TO ACCOMPLISH THIS JOB.
