Description
Standard Qualifications: Under the direction and supervision of the surgeon, the registered nurse first assistant RNFA provides holistic, individualized patient care in response to identified needs. Additional functions will be performed in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in a manner consistent with the mission of the hospital. Under the director/manager/supervisor or designee, the RNFA assists in peri-operative care of surgical patients in accordance with Texas Board of Nursing and AORN RNFA guidelines. The RNFA may perform subcutaneous and skin closure independently as long as the surgeon is immediately available if needed.
