Standard Qualifications: Same Day Surgery Our pre-appointment surgery nurses strive to meet the needs of the surgical patient prior to surgery. Our PAT team prepares and educates the surgical patient on what to do and helps to ease anxiety for upcoming procedures. The same day surgery department is a 20 bed unit that prepares the patient the day of surgery by inserting IVs, administering pre-operative medications, and many other duties to ensure the patient is ready to go to the operating room. Under general supervision the Same Day Surgery Registered Nurse (RN) staff nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures of Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. In collaboration with the patient, the patients family and other members of the health care team, the clinical Same Day Surgery Registered Nurse (RN) assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and coordinates treatment plans.
