As a full-service, acute care hospital in East El Paso with a Level II Trauma designation in Emergency Services, we continue to expand our services to meet the growing needs of our tristate community, providing special expertise in Cardiology, Maternity & Child Services, a Level III NICU, a Center of Excellence designation for our Bariatric Clinic, a Level II Trauma Center, and a newly renovated 32-bed Rehabilitation Hospital. The physicians, nurses and staff at our 350-bed hospital are committed to providing the highest quality care with compassion and integrity. POSITION SUMMARY: To administer, analyze and appraise the care given to patients within the Labor and Delivery Unit. To advise hospital management regarding the status of patient care, budgetary projections, quality improvement processes. To anticipate and estimate future needs of the L&D Department to improve quality of patient care. To collaborate and coordinate the efforts of the staff of the L&D Department to accomplish the mission of Del Sol Medical Center. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develops and administers maternal services as necessary to include Labor and Delivery nursing care. Promotes a multidisciplinary coordination of services, such as, nursing medical, respiratory care, laboratory, pharmaceutical and public relations. Develop, monitor, appraise and analyze budgetary goals and outcomes within the L&D Department. Administer and appraise Quality Improvement within the services provided. Control processes related to Human Resources; inclusive of hiring, evaluating, terminating, counseling, coaching and development of the staff. Direct and approve the practice of professional nursing and support positions within the services provided to maintain quality patient care through implementation and evaluation of clinical practice standards. Develop, interpret, inspect and review policies and procedures within the services provided. Develop, institute, review and implement Disaster Preparedness policies and procedures for the organization. Collaborates, develops and participates in marketing of the L&D Department, including educational program development, external advertising and working in alliance with local and regional programs. Responsible for twenty four hours coverage and problem resolution to the services provided. Other duties as assigned.
