Our staff includes people from 33 countries and 39 states, a diversity which helps us relate to our equally diverse community. Registered Nurse RN PRN or the Cardiovascular Unit - CVU. PRN - Days The 12-bed CVU is a highly specialized nursing unit designed to meet the needs of patients with heart and / or vascular conditions to adult and geriatric patient populations. POSITION SUMMARY: Demonstrates proficient knowledge regarding operation of patient-related equipment Demonstrates proficiency in performance of job-related technical skills Demonstrates current knowledge of medications, actions, contraindications, and adverse reactions. Consistently attends and actively participates in unit meeting Serves as a participant on Nursing service committees and/or unit projects Accountable for maintaining and improving own professional nursing knowledge/competence through establishment of personal goals and continuous self-development Uses job knowledge/proficiency of skills to successfully assist in orientation of new employees Ensures personal safety and the safety of patients and visitor Includes principles of infection control in nursing care implementation Keeps self-informed of various changes and concerns through the use of Meditech, communication books, etc. Demonstrates knowledge of Patient safety goals. Completes other duties assigned Adheres the Customer Service Principles of West Houston Medical Center QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing is required. 1 year of Cardiovascular RN experience Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse. Must have a current BLS (American Heart Association) Must have a current ACLS or obtain within 6 months of date of hire/transfer Must have a current NIH Stroke Scale or obtain within 60 days of date of hire/transfer We offer a generous compensation package including: Vacation, 401k, Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
