Standard Qualifications: Specialty Hospital is a fully licensed and accredited , long-term acute care hospital ... the only one of its kind in Jacksonville Florida and one of approximately 300 in the nation. Our patients are in need of extended hospital stays and have complex medical conditions. Our focus is on a patient's total recovery and it is one of the factors that set us apart. Patients at Specialty Hospital often are very ill. They have been in a traditional hospital, but need more extensive care to help them recover fully. We specialize in patients who have suffered from multiple issues, such as respiratory failure , infectious diseases , severe wounds , and brain or spinal cord injuries . Our goal is to achieve fully integrated healing. To this end, Specialty Hospital's resources are complemented by affiliations with community physicians from nearly every medical discipline. We have nearly 250 physicians on staff at our facility. We are searching for a new Quality Manager, responsible for management and coordination of the organization's quality, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance programs. This position has cross accountabilities and interacts with varied departments in the support of improving overall patient care. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1. Accreditation and Regulatory Compliance a. Serve as the hospital's subject matter expert regarding relevant accreditation and regulatory requirements. b. Coordinate accreditation, regulatory, and internal surveys as needed c. Respond to any accreditation and regulatory compliance deficiencies by developing and implementing corrective action plans. d. Provides updates to organization to ensure continuous compliance e. Manages and coordinates ongoing activities to ensure continuous readiness for regulatory compliance 2. Performance Improvement/Peer Review a. Coordinate with the Medical Staff Services to facilitate focused professional practice evaluation (FPPE) and evaluation at the conclusion. b. Coordinate with the Medical Staff Services to facilitate ongoing professional practice evaluation (OPPE). c. Coordinate with Medical Staff Services in the conduct of internal and external peer reviews. 3. Quality/PI Program Operations a. Oversees and directs the quality, performance improvement, and clinical review process and improvement activities for the facility. b. Leads/facilitates cross-functional teams. Assists or educates the teams in PI tools, processes and in preparing reports and documentation of information in alignment with strategic objectives. c. Develops and maintains format and procedures for documentation and reporting of PI; maintains reports of findings, conclusions and actions resulting from monitoring and evaluation of patient care by hospital staff. d. Updates the hospital-wide PI and organizational plans at least annually to reflect current practice. e. Plans, develops and presents education programs on Performance Improvement for physicians and hospital personnel as needed f. Monitors and analyzes the hospital's progress in meeting the objectives of the comprehensive Performance Improvement program. g. Maintains awareness of legislative activities that may affect risk/quality management programs and participates as appropriate. h. Actively participates and/or leads facility committees as needed. i. Collaboratively works with Risk Management to ensure patient safety activities and initiatives are in place, including TeamSTEPPS 4. Clinical Outcomes/Public Reporting a. Manages external data repository as required for CMS Public reporting, ensuring accurate and timely submission of data b. Provides analysis, trending and recommendations to various committees or leadership as appropriate c. Leads/facilitates efforts to ensure quality outcomes are shared and improvement efforts are implemented. 5. Emergency Management and Preparedness Develops, and actively collaborates in the development of the organization's Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and Appraisal at least annually, and including submission for approval by the County Emergency Management Department Work directly with the hospital education department to design, develop, coordinate and implement hospital-wide and site specific training regarding the hospital Emergency Management Plan. Work with local experts to ensure that emergency preparedness equipment and supplies are available and in good working order. Assists in the coordination of recommending purchase of supplies/equipment as necessary. Coordinates emergency management activities with other disciplines and departments, including execution of a minimum of two Hospital-wide Emergency Preparedness Drills per year Participate with internal and external task forces, committees, and agencies regarding emergency preparedness including those at the hospital, local, regional, and state levels. Serves as the facility's representative regarding emergency preparedness when appropriate. Reports outcomes, decisions, recommendations to Administration and appropriate sub-committees.
