Standard Qualifications:   Portsmouth Regional Hospital is currently recruiting for talented Sonographers to join our team. The hospital provides the full scope of services for general and vascular ultrasound. We strive for an employee-empowered environment, where you can pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in healthcare.     Position Summary:  RDMS and RVT (within 6 months of hire) Registered Sonographer to obtain vascular and general ultrasound studies based on established protocols. Will have both administrative and clinical accountability to designated service area. Implements / updates department specific policies, procedures and standards with adherence to facility, state, federal and Joint Commission criteria. Communicates patient related issues or problems that occur. Employ technique that is both appropriate to patient age and clinical condition. SPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Demonstrates critical thinking skills in accordance with hospital/department policies and procedures. Maintains supply/inventory control. Assist with Quality Control to identify areas of improvement and implement steps to enhance quality throughout the Department. Ensures proper system maintenance, operation and care. Fosters development, teamwork, and effective communication. Ensures competency, ethical performance and adherence to department's/facility's Mission Statement, as well as state, federal, and Joint Commission Guidelines. Perform on-call duties and/or work variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs.  Minimum Position Requirements: Licensure/Certification/Registration: RMDS and RVT- within 6 months of hire BLS (AHA) Certified. CPI Training (Crisis Prevention Institute) within 6 months of hire Education High School Graduate or GED Graduate of an Accredited Radiologic Technology Program or equivalent with appropriate National Registry(s). Experience Previous experience in performing both general and vascular sonography. Keyboarding skills of 25 wpm minimum. Must be well trained to handle different ages and risk factors when performing diagnostic procedures. Specific Requirements: Must be able to take call restricted to a 30-minute response time and work on Hospital/ER recognized Holiday if necessary. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Integrity to work with confidential information. Ability to work independently. Ability to handle a high activity environment Ability to deal with patients during emotional periods. Ability to work with others to ensure quality patient care. Strong problem solving skills. Continuous focus on excellence in work environment. Ability to demonstrate flexibility in response to unexpected needs of the department.
