Standard Qualifications: Central Sterile Tech Position Summary: Under the direction of the Manager, Supervisor or Charge Person is independently capable of functioning in all areas of the department. May be assigned supervisor responsibilities in any area or act as lead in any designated area at various times. POSITION REQUIREMENTS A. Licensure/ Certification/ Registration: Must have certificate of completion for Sterile Processing Course or demonstrates acceptable knowledge of microbiology, anatomy, etc.,as determined by Director. B. Education: High School graduate or equivalent preferred. C. Experience: Must have experience in all areas of Sterile Processing. And at least one year experience. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Functional Requirements: Required sufficient vision and hearing to perform duties. Requires frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of trays/equipment, and sufficient manual dexterity to operate therapeutic equipment. Must be able to stand for long periods at a time and walk up/down stairs frequently. Must be able to lift and carry at least 25-35 pounds unassisted. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT Personal Protective Equipment: This position requires the use of personal protective equipment during various tasks/activities. Personal protective equipment includes, but is not limited to, back support belts, gloves, masks, gowns, shoe covers, and safety glass Key Accountabilities / Competencies 1. Able to print appropriate doctors preference list, assemble case cart and fill requisitions. 2. Assembles all necessary equipment and supplies to meet patient and surgeon needs. 3. Demonstrates a concern for efficiency and cost effectiveness {Value Analysis}. 4. Displays team spirit by assisting with special project assignments. 5. Follows established policies and procedures to identify and reduce the risks of acquiring or transmitting infection. 6. Follows through on problems that may compromise effective job performance by using appropriate chain of command. 7. Knowledgeable to perform all functions and operations pertaining to the sterilizers. Responsible for operating sterilizers, aerators and their monitoring cleaning. 8. Must know microbiology, instrumentation and hand cleaning techniques of equipment and machines. 9. Performs well in stressful and emergency situations. 10. Serves as a mentor or educational resource for new employees and students.
